Pray for Justin.

If you have been reading my blog for awhile, then you have heard me mention the crew better yet my second family. They are the best friends I could ever ask for. And although we are spread across the world from Japan to California to Arkansas at the moment, we are still a family.

With that said, I am asking for your prayers. Justin, Jackie's husband, was in an accident which caused a serious head injury and he is now in a coma. He is a United States Marine and has been deployed to Japan since the spring. Please pray that he will recover from this, and his wife, sisters, parents, family and crew will be able to share many more memories with him.

Jay Ohh Bee

I went to Ft. Worth last weekend to spend the weekend with Will. It was a great weekend!! We went to the Texas Rangers game on Friday. The fireworks after the game were awesome, but the game felt like it lasted forever. And I am even a baseball fan--Will not so much. We also went to the Modern Art Museum of Ft. Worth and practiced being "modern." I am surprised we did not get kicked out. We don't do the whole "being modern, reflecting on art" thing so well, so the trip consisted of a lot of laughing!

I then spent all of Saturday being a TCU fan minus wearing purple. The only color of clothing I did not pack, of course. We watched the game at an amazing Taco place called Fuzzy's Tacos. I definitely recommend the shrimp taco with a little butt burning sauce (yes, that's the official name) if you are ever in the area.

I also learned that I suck at darts, but Will was nice enough to put up with it through a few games. It was a great time, and I met some cool people, and made many trips to Whataburger. Unfortunately, I won't be able to keep making tons of trips to the Lonestar state because I accepted a jay ohh bee.

SO, Monday I will start my new job as a manager in training at Abercrombie & Fitch. The opportunity fell into my lap yesterday when a friend from college called to see if I would be interested. I interviewed and now I start on Monday--very crazy. It seems like everytime I go to Texas, I come back to some type of job opportunity.

I am so thankful for this opportunity! I had got a side job at Old Chicago in NLR and went to one day of training. I hated it. I did the restuarant thing all through college, which was great then, but I am ready for a "big girl" job.

I never thought I would start working at Abercrombie or still be in Arkansas at this point, but I know the experience will be worthwhile. So my "moving to Texas" plans are put on hold for now. I will get out of this place sooner or later, but hopefully sooner.

This means I have one last weekend as an unemployed graduate. WHAT TO DO? Well, Katey and I are having a garage sell. Katey will be moving soon for a new job, so we are trying to make a little extra cash to use until we start bringing in the paychecks. Those are my exciting weekend plans so far! I'm sure I will find something to get into.

Summer in a Second

In May, I finally graduated from college. It was such a great feeling, and I am so glad I got to share that exciting day with four of my best friends.

I have left Russellville behind and moved back to Jacksonville for the time being. Living with my parents again is a little weird but it is nice at times. I spent most of my summer going back and forth to Dallas, interning at Channel 7, and job hunting. You would think it would be easy to find a job--think again! I am hoping something will come up soon.

I guess I will be living the unemployed life until then! Crossing my fingers, that it won't be for too long. Since summer has gone by so quickly, here are a few pictures that sum up my summer in just a few seconds.

new year on the east coast

Over Christmas break, Casey and I went to NYC and Boston for a mini vacation. We spent three days in each city, and I think we did as much as possible in those six days. It was a great way to start 2011.

It was my first time in NYC and it was nothing like I expected. It is one of those cities that you either absolutely love or just don't care for. I was the one who didn't really care for it. It was awesome to see everything in NYC but I could never live there. It looks much better on television. If I were ever to live in Manhattan, I would have to be a millionaire that could afford to shop at Chanel and Bergdorf's on a daily basis. I don't see that happening anytime in the near future. I am happy that I was able to go and explore the city for a few days, but I just didn't fall in love. My favorite part was just walking around the city and taking pictures-which I took a ton of.

On the other hand, I LOVE Boston. I had been there before, but I just love it even more now. I looked at Boston University while I was there, and it is perfect. It is right around the corner from Fenway and Newbury Street, where all the shopping is. I plan on applying to grad school at BU and hopefully will be living there in the next few years, if all goes as planned. It is a completely different world compared to NYC. It is very laid back, beautiful and full of history! I would tell anyone to visit if they have the chance. The only thing I didn't get to do in Boston, that I would have loved, was go to a Celtics game. They were playing the Spurs, and I wanted to go so bad. Tickets were too expensive so I just have to add that to my list of things to do when I go back.

A Mother's Love

Today I came home from school to find my mother doing some serious winter cleaning in my apartment. She vacuumed the entire place, washed my clothes, picked up my room, washed dishes and scrubbed my bathroom until it sparkled. I have the most wonderful mother anyone could ask for, and I was so happy to see her today. When I finally dragged her away from cleaning, we went on a little shopping trip. There isn't much shopping in Russellville-but we did what we could. I got some new decor for my apartment and some Christmas gifts for a few friends, and then we headed to Colton's for dinner.

Nathan and I had our radio show tonight, and my mom decided to sit in the studio with us to see how the whole thing goes. Secretly-she just wanted to see Nathan. She has adored him since we were in high school. It was cool having her there and letting her see what kind of stuff we get to do at school. I was a little disappointed that she or my sister didn't want to talk on the radio. I am sure our five listeners would have enjoyed it!

Today, and everyday, I am thankful to have such a wonderful mother and family. I wouldn't be able to do half the things that I do without them. It was great spending the afternoon with her. I will have to start redecorating my apartment more so she will come visit more often. The reason for her visit was to see my Christmas tree.

Speaking of mothers-I love Carrie Underwood's song Mama's Song. It is such a great mother-daughter song.

Wear Red.

Have you noticed everyone wearing red today? That is because it is World AIDS awareness day. I found more information about this day from Avert.

"Started on 1st December 1988, World AIDS Day is about raising money, increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education. The World AIDS Day theme for 2010 is 'Universal Access and Human Rights'. World AIDS Day is important for reminding people that HIV has not gone away, and that there are many things still to be done.


According to UNAIDS estimates, there are now 33.3 million people living with HIV, including 2.5 million children. During 2009 some 2.6 million people became newly infected with the virus and an estimated 1.8 million people died from AIDS.1

The vast majority of people with HIV and AIDS live in lower- and middle-income countries. But HIV today is a threat to men, women and children on all continents around the world."

Now you know why everyone is wearing red. I think it is important for us to be aware of what it going on the world around us, even if it may not directly affect you. Help raise awareness of issues such as AIDS, breast cancer, or diabetes helps us learn more about these issues along with helping to improve them.
