Goodbye June.

Since I haven’t posted in about a month, I figure it is only appropriate for a quick update of what happened during my first month in New York City. So here goes nothing—

After three trips to Ikea, I am finally settled into my room and have shelves and decorations on the wall. Though most of them are crooked and look like that might come crashing down at any moment, at least they are up!

{Carrying all this back to my apartment was a challenge.}

I went to my first east coast beach. It was surprisingly nice and reminded me of Destin, Fl. I have been there everyday I’ve had off work since.

{Rockaway Beach}

I finally strolled through Grand Central Station. AMAZING. I looked like a total tourist taking photos, but in my head I felt like I was in an episode of Gossip Girl. Spotted.

{Grand Central Station}

Friends from home have already come to visit. That was my favorite part. I love getting to see them! Living in the city would be absolutely perfect if I could just bring all my great friends with me. I know I will make friends that are great here but nothing can compare to those back home.

Lastly, I have a new roommate. My current roommate, Derick, decided to move back to Arkansas and attended the UofA for his masters. Now I have a Craigslist roommate, hopefully not killer. She moves in on Saturday so pray that this goes well for me.

{Derick's last day in NYC.}

That’s my June in a nutshell.

four days down.

{Manhattan skyline via Ikea ferry.}

I have officially lived in the city for four days now. A crazy, busy and tiring four days. But I love it.

After two trips to Ikea, I have a bed to sleep in and furniture to unpack my boxes into. I will agree that Ikea is a very convenient place to decorate your apartment at a good price, but that place literally gives me a panic attack. It is also quite annoying when you forget to buy a crucial part of the bed, like that boards that hold up the mattress. Yes, that happened to me!

{After.}

Today was my first day at Bloomingdale's. That place is insane, but oh so amazing. I cannot wait to start abusing my employee discount. We went through a store tour today and it was nothing but a tease. I see my shoe and handbag collection growing significantly in the next few months. Along with my collection of black clothes.

I am absolutely in love with the East Village. It is the perfect place to live. I have already bonding with a few neighbors over trips to Ikea. The village with people my age, great eats, and semi quiet streets (which is nice at night).

Short update on how life in the city is so far. I look forward to sharing the rest of my adventures with you.

I love you, New York.

{East Village apartment.}

My trip to New York was very successful. I found an apartment. Yay!! It was a stressful process but after a day of looking I now have a tiny, expensive apartment in East Village. I move back in exactly two weeks.

It's crazy how fast the time is flying by.

I also had a job interview while in the city. And I got it. I will be working at Bloomingdale's. I cannot wait. I just hope my employee discount doesn't get the best of me.

While we in New York we didn't have much time for tourist activity but I did manage to go to a taping of the Late Show with David Letterman. It was so much fun, and somehow we managed to get front row seats.

I probably won't have much time for blogging the next few weeks because I will either be working, packing, or soaking up every minute with friends and family. So if I don't, look forward to hearing from me once I get settled in.

Until then, here are a few snapshots from our trip.

Weekend Wrap UP.

The weekend has come to an end and I slowly packing my things to head to New York. Slowly, only because my flight doesn't leave until 3:30 pm.

I cannot wait to be in the city and searching for my apartment. I am just hoping I find one right away. I have to find one in-between my job interviews and touristy adventures like attending a taping of The Late Show with David Letterman.

Wish me luck!!

On the other hand, our last day in Boston was spent walking around the city enjoying its beauty. We walked down to the river to look over Cambridge, then spent the rest of the afternoon strolling up and down Newbury and Bolyston St.

To wrap up the weekend we had dinner at The Beehive. It is a basement that has been turned into a dinner + music venue. The feature Blues on Sunday, I loved it!

That's all for now. I'll be posting about New York so hurry back. Meanwhile, here are some pictures from our long walks around Boston.

Weekend in Boston.

{Wellington St.}

My mom and I arrived in Boston on Friday afternoon. We decided to stop on our way to New York to visit our cousins. So far our trip has been wonderful. We have been visiting with family, venturing throughout Boston, and even watched some home videos during our down time.

Yesterday, we spent the day at the Red Sox game. Unfortunately, they didn't come out with the win, but it was still fun. Before the game, we had lunch at a neat little bar called the Bleacher Bar. If you are a baseball fan, I definitely recommend it if you are ever at Fenway.

Today, we are headed out for a walk down to the river, and then a little shopping on Newbury St. I've decided to share a few photos so I don't overload you in one post. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!!

busy bee.

{Me, Nichole, and Bethany at Nichole & Jake's Wedding.}

The past month I have been a busy bee. Planning a New York trip, getting my wisdom teeth pulled, visiting with out-of-town friends, weddings and working. I've been trying to enjoy my last few months in Arkansas and the time is going by faster than usual.

{My go-to wedding date and best friend, Casey.}

I leave in a week to look for the "perfect" apartment in the city. Planning a New York trip is much harder when it's all business and no play. Okay, I am making a little time for play. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will find an apartment first thing, so I can enjoy a few stress-free days of vacation. My sweet friends and family have been a great help, giving me books and helping me search for a place! I just hope they will all come visit. I can't even say how much I will miss them, especially my five oh one family.

{My NYC bucket list thanks to my sweet friend Whitney.}

Speaking of missing people, my dear friend Brittany flew down from Canada last weekend to visit. She was only here for five days. Not long enough. We made a couple of trips to Russellville to visit our old college buds. It's so weird how much has changed in the year that I have been gone. I felt so old because I knew, what seemed like, five people. I am glad she came to visit and I can't wait for her trip to NYC in the fall. I was still a little under the weather from my wisdom teeth being pulled, but I'll be ready to take the city by storm on her next visit.

{Brittany and I the night before her long flight back to Canada.}

Now it's back to make the New York itinerary. I somehow became the one in charge of trip planning, lets hope I don't screw this one up. If anyone has any NYC tips and must do's, send them my way.

music moment.

I am obsessed with this song right now.
Give it a listen and you will love it just as much.
