Summertime Fun

I stole this idea from my friend Chelsea. She sent me a ball like this in the mail for my 19th birthday. I walked into the post office to pick up my "package" and was handed a huge bouncy ball. I am sure it was the talk of the post office. One of my friends has been working at Pine Cove Timbers Camp in Tyler, Texas all summer. I have got to talk to him a couple of times on his days off, but I decided to send him something to make him laugh when he starts missing home. I wrote silly laffy taffy jokes (which are my favorite) all over the ball, and drew pictures. I wish I could see the look on his face when he get this! After you read this, say a little prayer for Richard to have a great few last weeks.

This past weekend was very eventful. We had Jackie's bachelorette party on Saturday night, and Justin also got home on Saturday! It was nice spending time with all the girls on Saturday and not having to worry about what the boys were up to. I got to see Justin today for the first time since he has been back! It was so nice to see him, and I am glad we will all get to hang out for the next few weeks until they move back to California.

Me and the bride-to-be!

Monday night I celebrated my best friend Ashley's 21st birthday. We went to dinner with her mom at The Villa, which is a delicious Italian restaurant in Little Rock. Then we did a little shopping at Old Navy. The funniest thing happened. Ashley discovered this new "beauty mark" when she got home from work. She swore up and down that it was dirt but the three of us tried and tired to get it off. So we came to the conclusion it was a new freckle/beauty mark. This morning at work I got a text message from Ashley saying her beauty was DIRT!! It wiped right off this morning. I died laughing! HA!

Twenty One!

I had an eventful yet wonderful weekend! I hope everyone else did also. =)

shopping and showers

The weekend felt a lot longer than it truly was. I am realizing this now that I am back at work. Friday night, my mother and I took a trip to Hastings, mainly so I could use the wifi. My parents NEVER use the Internet so after I moved away to college, and with my sister never being home they decided to stop the service since it was never used. Katey and Casey met us at Hastings, and I was so excited to show Katey all the comments she got! My counter went up by 200, it was CRAZY! I am not sure if Katey is going to pursue any of the comments, but nevertheless it was fun and maybe just maybe she will go on a date or two.

I finally got my paycheck on Friday and the money was instantly burning a hole in my pocket. This whole getting paid once a month thing is not really my cup of tea. So Saturday, I cashed my check and took my self on a long-awaited, mini shopping spree. I found some good deals, and some not so good ones. My favorite purchase was a romper from Gap that was originally $60 and I got it for about $17. [I love finding good sales.] My second favorite was a cookbook! I have been eyeing this cookbook for a while so I decided to buy it for myself. It’s called The Students Cookbook, great grub for the hungry and the broke. I am positive it will be handy when I move into my apartment and the recipes sound delicious! I am ready to start experimenting.

The romper I bought at Gap.

My new cookbook!

Jackie’s wedding shower was on Sunday afternoon, which made it a great afternoon. It is so crazy to think that in two weeks she will be married and on her way to start a life in California. Jackie and I have become great friends over the past few years and I am so happy for her. Never in a million years would I have thought that she would be my first friend to get married, but now it just makes sense. Her fiancĂ©, Justin, is a Marine so they will be living in San Diego for at least three more years. Justin has also become a good friend and I am thankful he has arrived back in the U.S. safely! He has been in Japan since January. I was so thrilled I was asked to spend the big day with them. It is going to be a crazy/fabulous wedding especially knowing this wedding party and Jackie’s family. Ohhh! I can’t wait!

Me and the beautiful bride!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

take two

I have had this blog for almost two years now but you could never tell by looking at it. After I started it I was horrible about posting. It would be months sometimes before I would post something new. While I was looking at all my old blog post (mainly to pass time at work) the other day I came to the conclusion that it was just a bunch of random thoughts thrown into a big blogging mess! SO I have decided to make a promise to myself and all my readers (and future readers) that I am going to regularly update this thing from now on, and I will try not to do any random babbling. I guess you could say I am “starting over” with my blog.

A couple things first:

-Some of my older post were things I had to do for school, like all the Photoshop pictures, banners, etc. Last semester we had to post all our work to this blog, along with posting twice a week. I was still bad at it then. That’s why I was posting random photos and things if you were wondering.

- I am working on finding a new layout and everything for my blog too. So it will soon have a totally new face. =)

-The subject/reason/theme of this blog is for me to show you my journey through life. I am finishing my last year at Tech and then hopefully will be going to grad school and then off to the real world. So you can keep up with my adventures by reading!!!

I hope you come back to see what is going on with me! And if you have your own blog, post me the link so I can see what is going on in your world!

Show us Your Life- my friend Katey

I just started reading Kelly’s Korner Blog a couple weeks ago, and decided to participate in this week’s edition of “Show us Your Life.” She has made her own “match.com” for all the great singles out there that have bloggers trying to set them up. She asked her readers to sign up any single guys they knew that would be consider a “good catch” and she also allowed for single ladies to sign up too. I think this is so cool, and even if you don’t find a match you could still begin a new friendship.

I had two people in mind for this, but I knew one of them would be completely against the idea. But my amazing friend Katey agreed (after I begged) to let me post a little bit about her on here. She is a great girl and friend, and any guy would be more then lucky to take her out! With that said, here is more about Katey…

The beautiful Katey. =)

Katey is a senior Heath Information Management student at Arkansas Tech University. She plans on continue school to get her masters and either teach or work in electronic heath record sales.

She is 25 years old and grew up in Central Arkansas. Katey and I grew up in the same hometown, but since she was a few years older then me we weren’t really friends. Until, we ended up being neighbors in our apartment complex last year and even had a class together. Over the past year we have become more than good friends and she is just amazing!

Katey at the Jason Aldean Concert.

Katey is a down-to-earth, southern girl who can get along with everyone. Sometimes she will dress up for a night on the town, but most of the time she loves being in comfy clothes and outdoors doing things like going fishing, 4-wheeling, running, working out or playing on the lake. She loves going places whether it’s a two hour road trip or hopping on a plane to somewhere. If she had to pick the spot, it would either be the beach or snow skiing.

Katey and I in Mexico this past spring break.

In high school she a cheerleader and a softball and volleyball player. Even though she doesn’t play anymore, she still loves the sports and would be down for a game in the back yard. Football and baseball are her two favorite sports to watch. Although she is a Tech student, she is probably the biggest fan of the A-State Football team. It is a family thing.

Which brings me to another great thing about her, she LOVES spending time with her family. She was raised by a wonderful, loving and supportive family. She was very involved in her church growing up and still attends regularly. She has a big brother, and is an aunt to two beautiful girls who are a big part of her life. She will make a great wife and mother one day. And she can COOK! We would always plan to cook, which meant Katey cooked and I supervised, so trust me I know.

Katey with her big bro and dad!!

Getting kisses from her niece.

These are just a few of the things I can tell you about Katey. She is great and I would love for anyone to meet her! So leave me a comment and a way to contact you!

growing up

This past weekend was not filled with much excitement. For the most part, I hung around our house planning out things for next year when I move into my apartment (the one I almost didn't get.)

My mother, aunt and I drove to Russellville on Saturday to find an apartment. I would have probably postponed this longer but my mom insisted. Thank goodness! Because when I got there there were no apartments available at the two complexes I was looking in to. The lady at Spring Lake, my future home, told me that they were going to evict this guy but she was not 100% sure. So hoping I would get lucky, I paid a $250 deposit and prayed that something would open up. Lucky me, about an hour after we left she called me to say the apartment was mine, and the guy had one day to move out. God is good. I just feel bad for the guy who got evicted, hope hes not too upset. So i scored a 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment!

I had almost everything I needed to furnish my apartment, but there were a few things I still needed. One of those being a couch. I had been trying to find something at a good deal and that I liked. We went into Furniture Factory Outlet and I found the perfect tan suede couch. It was so comfy which plays a big factor in my couch hunting. After a lot of contemplation-I bought it. I was hesitant at first because it was a lot of money, for me, and I don't like spending my own money. But I figured it was time for me to be a grown up and buy grown up things with my money.

The couches that I bought for my apartment.

We then ventured to hobby lobby and I found a few little signs I like for my kitchen. The only thing was that the colors and design does not match ANYTHING I own. So i bought two canvases and decided I am going to paint them myself so they will have all the colors I want.

Here are the orginal signs. I will post my version whenever I get them finished!

fun from the fourth plus some...

The 4th went out with a bang. It was a wonderful weekend spent with close friends. I attempted a trip to Beaver Lake on Saturday but just my luck it rained all day. The sun finally came out when it was time for me to head to Ft. Smith on Sunday.

Ft. Smith was filled with food, swimming, friends and fireworks. The girls beat the boys in an intense game of water basketball. I hadn’t played a game of basketball since my days on a team at the Boys and Girls Club, and even then I mostly sat the bench. We also played my new favorite video game, Just Dance on the Wii. It is so much fun and a workout too. I took almost 10 years of dance and I completely suck at the game. My grandmother could probably beat me, but I still like to play.

This week has been less eventful. I did get to hang out with some friends last night. Gentry, Josh, Amanda and I watched Clay and Brandon play softball up at Burns Park, then we headed to Chick-fil-a for some food after the game. Brandon and I had to make a pit stop at Cozy’s first. Cozy’s is my all time favorite snow cone stand. When I was younger we would stop after leaving my softball games, now I have to make special trips to Cozy’s which is not conveniently located on the way to anywhere except the ball park.

It was nice to spend the night with friends. I feel like I have been lame all summer by going home everyday after work and not getting out.

Josh is leaving for Australia on Monday. He will be there for a whole year to attend Hillsong’s school. Personally, I think that would be super amazing. It would be hard to leave friends, but I think I could make the move. I know he will have an awesome time there, and learn so much along the way. Keep Josh in your thoughts and prayers over the next year. And Skype him, if you can…

I really wish I had pictures to go along with this post. I actually do, but they are not on this computer. Next time I will try to have pictures. I almost forgot! I started up my new blog. If you like bands, music or anything similarly related you should check it out -> Stuck on Repeat. I only have one post so far, but it is coming together.

fourth.

I cannot believe it is already July, it seems like summer is flying by. I truly think the older I get the faster the time goes. The 4th of July is possible my favorite holiday weekend. I always seem to have a great time with great people.

Tonight I am heading to Fayetteville to spend a day with my long-time friend Bethany. We are going to enjoy a day on the lake tomorrow and spend the rest of the time catching up. Bethany and I have been friends since elementary school but going to different high schools and colleges has taken a lot of quality time away from us, so I am very excited to make the trip.

On Sunday I am heading to Ft. Smith to spend the day at Brandon’s parent’s house with a group of our college buddies. We had a shindig last year are Brandon’s house on the 4th. To say it was exciting is definitely an understatement. Being the rule breakers that we are, we decided it would be a brilliant idea to set off fireworks in the middle of a neighborhood. Needless to say, fireworks, tall dead grass and wind do not mix. We successfully lit a lot, located between two houses, on fire. The fire department was called and everything. This year we are banned from fireworks, so we will have to get into some other trouble.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe weekend!
